Stewart v. Abend

495 U.S. 207 (1990)
#

Cornell Woolrich (who sometimes wrote under the pen-name William Irish) actually wrote screenplays for dozens of movies. He is considered to be one of the fathers of noir fiction and has still a dedicated following today. (The collection of short stories that included "It Had to be Murder" is still available.) When he was alive, Mr. Woolrich was angered by the small amount of money he received for the movie rights. However, the ultimate insult was failing to be invited to the movie's premier.

Rear Window is considered to be one of Hitchcock's greatest films. A very detailed review of the move can be found here.
