Both Abie's Irish Rose and The Cohens and the Kellys were wildly successful. The play first opened on May 23, 1922 and didn't close until more than five years later, after 2,327 shows. You can see a photo of the play's cast here. Eventually, the play would be made into a movie of the same name, which was equally successful. The Cohens and the Kellys first appeared in 1926, and it was so successful that it spawned six sequels, including The Cohens and the Kellys in Africa and The Cohens and the Kellys in Trouble.
